The Sajik Gymnasium has hit the jackpot with the JYJ concert.
On the 10th, the Busan Sports Facilities Administrative Service announced that the total profits for the gymnasium totaled to 200 million Won, which includes 10% of ticket sales for the venue rental fee. For the two-day concert, approximately 20,000 tickets, at an average price of 100,000 Won, were sold.
This profit is sixfold of Seotaiji’s Busan concert (5000 seats) that was held in June, 2009 and had a venue rental fee of 33 million Won. This event has brought in the most profit in the past 10 years.
For the performance, the Busan Sports Facilities Administrative Service did everything it could to ensure the safety of those attending the concert. It installed 280 steel columns that were 2.1m tall and 60mm wide under the floor where the 10-ton stage equipment would be set up. This procedure took four days and cost 80 million Won, a price which the concert’s organizer covered.
The seats that were planned to be installed on the racetrack floor initially were cancelled for safety reasons. This was because of the fear that the track would not be able to handle the sheer weight of hundreds of audience members jumping onto it during the performance.
Taking into consideration any and every possible accident that could occur during the concert, 200 people were employed for safety precautions and 70 officials from the Sports Facilities Administrative Service will be present and alert at all times.
Jung Gwon Young of the Busan Sports Facilities Administrative Service stated, “As the event is of a large-scale with over 3,000 foreigners visiting, we are doing everything we can to ensure that it goes smoothly,” and “As the first day of the concert overlaps with the baseball game that will go on at the Sajik Baseball Stadium, we advise all those who are attending the baseball game or the concert to use public transportation.”
