However what differentiates him from his superior background is his preference for street markets and food stalls, and his belief that these would help to show a person’s real character, and that he can truly love someone.

Park Yoochun’s fluent English during his ceremony for appointment as director attracted a lot of attention. In the drama Yoochun is born in Japan, and is able to communicate perfectly in Japanese, English and Korean, with the viewers calling him “perfect man.”

In the drama, he displays a pure love and affection for Jang Miri (Lee Da Hae) who is trying to move up in society. Song Yoo Hyun’s (Park Yoochun) who is deeply in love falls in a whirlpool of lies but doesn’t realise it, and despite finding out that Miri could be using his love for her own benefit, he still continues to love her. When Jang Miri, who doesn’t believe in society and people will be exposed is something that the viewers are looking out for.

Producers said, “In Miss Ripley, playing the role of Song Yoo Hyun, who always has a warm smile for Jang Miri, the woman he loves, and Lee Da Hae’s Jang Miri who gradually changes because of (Yoo Hyun’s) love, creates a beautiful imagery; Song Yoo Hyun’s unconditional love for Jang Miri, and Jang Miri who starts off lying but this slowly turns into true love, this is the kind of love we care about and are watching for.

Along with his appearance in “Miss Ripley,” Park Yoochun is also singing one of the theme songs, “An Empty Space Left For You.” It was released online on 21 June and not only did it take the top spot in real-time searches, but also became no.1 real-time in the main music distribution sites, as well as no.1 for downloads, displaying the power of a “clean sweep” and received a lot of love.

Park Yoochun’s “An Empty Space Left For You” is a passionate ballad which brings the drama’s level of completion to the next level, and received a lot of praise. A beautiful melody that draws the listener in, coupled with Park Yoochun’s voice thick with emotion helps to raise the viewer’s involvement level with the drama.

JYJ’s Park Yoochun who showed good acting skills in the drama “Miss Ripley,” greeted the fans cheerfully at the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards, appearing in a black suit and white t-shirt.

Park Yoochun played the main role of Lee Seon Joon in “SungKyunKwan Scandal,” his display of acting skills gained recognition, and started a popular trend called “Seon Joon Fever.” “It was hard to hold on the chances than we have, and we haven’t had many chances, so I am very happy to be able to get such a good project and  receive so much love,” he said, showing is gratitude. After receiving the popularity award, Park Yoochun thanked his fans and fellow JYJ members, and revealed his deep intentions, saying “After falling ill, you will turn out even stronger.”

As the overnight shoots continue, Park Yoochun shows a change in image, and it is expected that the drama will continue to unfold rapidly, increasing the audiences’ interest. 110617 Park Yoo-chun proves star power on TV screen

Whether singing, acting, or narrating, he guarantees Asia-wide promotion. K-pop star Park Yoo-chun, who is taking on his second major TV drama, is proving his star power, as the show has drawn big attention both in the country and overseas.

The MBC drama “Miss Ripley,” in which Park plays an heir to a resort empire, had already been exported to Japan and the U.S. before it was finished, in a deal worth 1.8 billion won ($1.6 million). The chances are high that it will enter markets of China and Southeast Asian countries soon.

In Korea, the drama is the most watched one among Monday-Tuesday evening TV dramas, reaching high viewer ratings since its first episode. As many of his fans are Japanese, the drama website provides Japanese language service for the drama.

Although he achieved fame as a singer at the boy band TVXQ and later JYJ, his acting has earned him even more popularity.

His previous drama, KBS’ “Seongkyunkwan Scandal,” which portrayed student life in the Joseon period, also attracted great viewership and won him the rookie actor of the year award at the Korea’s Paeksang Arts Award. His choice for playing a historical character for the first time has surprised many, but he later received praise for his acting.

He also narrates MBC documentary “The Hometown Where I Used to Live,” which airs on June 17. The MBC staff figured Park’s soothing voice would fit the concept of the documentary, depicting disappearing rural villages under the influence of urbanization in Korea.

“Miss Ripley” airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 9:50 p.m. on MBC and “The Hometown Where I Used to Live” will air Friday at 11:05 p.m.

110602 The Reason I Know Park Yoochun Though I Don’t Know Micky Yoochun

[T/N: As you can see through the use of first person, this is an editorial by a news reporter. Enjoy~]

I don’t really know Micky Yoochun as a singer very well. But I do know something about Park Yoochun as an actor. To tell you the truth, I don’t really know just how amazing Micky Yoochun was in TVXQ, an idol group that conquered(?) Japan and Asia.

To make an excuse for myself, I say that it’s okay that I don’t know much about Micky Yoochun as a singer because when TVXQ was most active, I wasn’t a reporter for the entertainment sector and I was well past the age for liking idol groups. I do know that he and two other members left SM Entertainment and formed a new group JYJ, only to have a hard time finding opportunities for TV appearances as broadcasting companies continue to be hesitant due to SM’s influence. Right now, I will be talking about Park Yoochun as an actor rather than Micky Yoochun.

Last week, Park Yoochun beat fierce competition at the ‘Baeksang Arts Awards’ to win the Best Male Newcomer Award and the Popularity Award for TV dramas. He looked quite radiant as he held his trophies and smiled brightly. To be honest, I had prejudices stacked against Park Yoochun even before I met him. The source of this came from the fact that he is from an idol group.

Though I admitted that the role of these beautiful male and female idols in the industry was to dance on stage and please the eyes of the viewers, their domination of the music industry made me wonder if the ‘Ga’ of Gasoo(singer) actually meant ‘Beautiful(佳)’, leaving a sour taste in my mouth as I saw the reality of what this industry had become.

Recently, Lee Minho of the drama ‘City Hunter’ stated, “There was a time when I would get upset at the fact that idol group members got lead roles with such ease when I had to go through countless auditions to receive a small role.” I agreed with his sentiments.

This was what I thought about as I saw Park Yoochun making his acting debut through ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’. I thought, ‘They’re making a youth drama with young actors who are popular with teens,’ and ‘They must have included Park Yoochun in the cast list for these young fans.’ But to my surprise, I saw this guy take his role seriously and subconsciously show off such a high level of concentration. His great acting that went well above my expectations made me see Park Yoochun in a new light.

I recently met Park Yoochun for a while during a report on MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley’. His sincere and serious explanation of the drama and his character made me think that he must have done a lot of preparation for the interview. In the back of my head, there was also the thought, “This is a facade that will soon slip.” But he answered the shower of questions directed at him with sincere and deep answers. He also replied to all questions with a humble manner and a smile.

When I heard that he gets an hour of sleep a day as he juggles his World Tour with filming for his drama, I felt my heart go out to him in sympathy. Even being considerate of the other actors with him, his replies and attitude during the interview were perfect. When we asked him questions regarding JYJ’s inability to appear on TV, promising to not publish articles if he answered truthfully, he smiled brightly and left us with the answer “I want~ to!”

Park Yoochun! He is the first person to break the stereotypes I had about idol group members. This may be one of the reasons why I’m anticipating his work in ‘Miss Ripley’.
