JYJ – Anan Interview (Forbidden Issue)

Note from SYC team
1. This interview was during 3HREEVOICES II DVD time.
2. Jaejoong and Yoochun flew to Japan before Junsu.
3. The interview contained the boys’ thoughts before their Charity Events in Japan.
4. This is the forbidden issue.

[TOHOSHINKI] a 5 member group that was extremely popular.

But 2009 summer, a shocking incident occurs. Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu, these 3 members filed a law suit against their agency to stop their contracts.

This made the “5 member” Tohoshinki’s activities to be suspended.

It has been a year and a half. The 3 members are facing many difficulties but have a new start as “JYJ”.

In Korea, they are not being able to go on music programs, and even in Japan, their activities are a blank.
Even at a situation like that, the album they released showed a big response, and through dramas, musicals,CF’s, their solo activities have been well received.

They are continuously showing results.

Also this month, the long-waited private DVD is going to be released.

The members who visited Japan after a long time, for a photoshoot, the fans welcomed them with passion.
The 3 members who are making their way, one step at a time right now, will we be able to interview them…?
They have finally responded to our offer.

JYJ who were filming for a DVD in Korea, we headed to Seoul in order to meet them!

Please enjoy the interview that was answered seriously, and the many expressions they showed the camera.

A day in March. In Seoul, Gangnam.

—– It’s”welcome back” right?
First of all, Yoochun-san, and Jaejoong-san, how was the photoshoot in Japan, after a long time?

Yoochun(YC): When I saw the Haneda Airport I thought, oh~ we’re in Japan, and was able to acknowledge it.

It has changed a lot! But seeing that, I thought, ‘Oh it’s Japan’. I went to many different places. Like the Tokyo Tower, Odaiba, Meguro-Gawa, and etc.

Jaejoong(JJ): Same for me. We didn’t go everywhere together though. Oh! And Shibuya! It was so crowded, that hasn’t changed! The DVD’s theme was “a place with a memory”.

YC: For instance, the Tokyo Tower was when we went for Tanabata. That time, we wrote on the paper with our wish on it, and hung it on a tree…ah,bamboo?

—— Do you remember what you wrote?

YC: I don’t remember- *laughs*

Junsu(JS): I remember! I wrote, I want to stand on a stage in Japan.

YC: …? Tokyo Dome right?

———– So, you remember *laughs*. Junsu-san, you re going to go after this, but where are you planing to go?

JS: I haven’t picked yet, but I’m thinking of going to the hot springs.

JJ: That’s a vacation, not work *laughs*

JS: Because, when I think memory in Japan, of course its the hot springs!

During the tour, we went with out members too.

YC: Hot springs are good. This time, I didn’t have time to do those things.

JS: More like, I only have hot springs to go too, so I told the other two they can’t go!

JJ: In the beginning we talked about where we want to go. But the places with memory…it’s alike
Yoochun and I went to all the places in the beginning, so Junsu had no where to go.

JS: Where should I go.

YC: What about FujiQ high land?

JS: Ah, that’s good. We have memory there too.

YC: Like Dodonpa. (a roller coaster ride at fujiQ)

JS: Until I get there,(to Fuji Q) it should be fun too.

JJ: But I think we will end up going to the same places, for sure.

JS: ….well,if it ends up like, there’s nothing we can do…. But, the most important thing is that we’re going to Japan.

We want to go back to Japan and have a tour.

YC: Yeah. Japan is, how do I say it…it’s already been 6 years.

JJ: Yeah. So it’s not really a foreign place anymore. But after last year’s a-nation, we didn’t go for like half a year.

Half a year is really long.

JS: It is long. For more than 5 years, we were going back and forth between Korea and Japan. So it was the first time, not going to Japan for half a year.

JJ: You forget the words too.

——— So you do forget the language.

JJ: But when you use it, you remember it.

JS: Right now, I’m speaking in Japanese after a really long time.

JJ: When you go to Japan again, you’ll be able to speak naturally. Yoochun was with Korean staff, but out of no where, he was speaking Japanese *laughs*

YC: I still watch “One Piece” on television every week.

——– Speaking of Japanese, Jaejoong-san had tweeted in Japanese several times but the two don’t use Japanese that often.

YC: Junsu, can you type Japanese?

JS: I can’t.

YC: Me too. I don’t know how. Since I’m doing it (tweeting) from my phone, I can’t type Japanese.

JS: I get asked from Japanese fans, “If I write in Japanese, can Junsu read it?” but we can read it. We can read it but we can’t type it. System-wise.

————– For half a year, the Japanese fans were ” Lacking JYJ”, but when you were in Korea, were you able to feel that?

JJ: We did feel that. A lot. They flew from Japan to come to our events and concerts.

Many fans from Japan came to watch Junsu’s musical, and several hundred people came to visit Yoochun’s drama set. On twitter and online, everyone is passionate.

I feel that, they are waiting for us all this time.

JS: Because we were able to feel everyone’s feelings, it was hard for us…. we wanted to go.
We wanted to go to Japan and meet everyone in Japan, we had feelings of apology.

——– How do your feelings towards doing activities in Japan differ from then and now?

JS: (Thinking for a long time) Out feelings haven’t changed that much.

We feel that doing activities in Japan itself, we want to… treasure it… and work hard a lot.

It was the same before, but it’s like that again. That kind of feeling/sense.

YC: If we can normally do activities like before that it would be good but…. we have many different issues, and can’t right now.

I want to go back to Japan as soon as possible and have a tour… A tour and things other than tours, I want to be able to make a lot of chances to meet everyone.

Because we have the fans support, we can think not to give up.

——– Last year, not just in Korea and Asia, you did some activities on Japan. What is your future plans?

JJ: Nothing is decided yet. In April, we’re going to have a world tour, and it’s after finishing the world tour.

——– Jaejoong-san, you’re the director for the world tour right?

JJ: Ah, yes! I decide the main/basic performance, and create the set list.

The live we did in Korea last year is used as the basic, and we’ll add a few more songs, change the performance, and edit the music orders. I’m hoping that it will be good.

——- it seems like you guys are going snow boarding, going a family trip, and having a satisfying private life. Is it like doing everything you all wanted to do before, all at once?

JS: Yes.

YC: Mmmm, I’m not really thinking about things like that, I’m just doing what came in my mind and thought “maybe I should do this-”.

———- Right now, at what times do you feel the most happiness?

YC: Everyday. (living life to the fullest) Everyday, I’m happy. Lately I’ve been going to eat with my family, now I have time to do things like that.

To be able to do those things, I now have more confidence, and time.

JS: For me… well, I think there is many different types of happiness but I feel the most happiness when I’m singing on stage.

Right now, there’s very little place I can feel that happiness…. The stage in Japan too, I’m hoping that we have more chance to sing on many stages. I want to feel the happiness I get from that more.

—— Last years New Years Eve,when Yoochun-san received the rookie award on “KBS Drama Award”, the 3 sang the title song “Found You” on stage.

YC: yes, for the first time.

JS: Last year singing that on stage was the first, and the last on television! *laughs*

——— How did you feel?

JS: it was a mix feeling… of course I was happy. I was happy but, feeling “happy” with just this one performance, it made me feel sad about myself that it made me happy.

But since it was a day to congratulate Yoochun and a happy day, I wanted to only think about good things. What I think is good is that, as an artist, being able to stand on stage isn’t a “normal” thing but “something really important”, that’s what we realised, that was really big….for us 3. With feelings like that, I think we matured compared to last year, and the year before.

JJ: What was normal became something that isn’t normal.

JS: Even during the difficult times, all of our fans are supporting us everyday, we feel that we cant give up, with that feeling right now, the 3 of us are “Gyu”/ hugging. *laughs* (Gyu- a sound effect in Japanese when you hug)

JYJ An An Interview: which was ‘supposed’ to be out in May

JJ: I can feel it. Very much. They fly from Japan to the venues or events. A lot of fans came to Junsu’s musical, and also to Yoochun’s drama film site. They are so passionate on both Twitter and internet, that I can feel they are waiting for us…

JS: There was some moments when it was harder because of the fans’ love… It made us want to go, go to Japan, and meet with all fans. Also felt sorry too.

Q. How does it feel different with when you were active in Japan?
JS: (Thinking carefully) The feelings is not that different.Being active as a singer in Japan…(can’t read well)..eh..I really want to do my best. Like I did before, it feels like..starting it over again..

YC: I would just like to be able to work normally as before… we can’t right now because there are some little problems.. I want to be on a tour in Japan again too. Tour..and other things besides tour. I also want to have many, many chances to meet with the fans.

Q. You had concerts not only in Korea or Asia, but also in the U.S. What’s your plan now?
JJ: It’s not decided. We will be on a worldtour starting in April, and when it ends, that’ll be the start.

Q. Jaejoonssi, you’re the worldtour director, right?
JJ: Ah, yes! I think up the specific formation, or make the set list. The live we had in Seoul last year was the first time. The change in performance and songs’ order when the song was a bit (can’t read). I hope it goes well.

Q. You guys also make (can’t read).
YC: Hmm..I don’t think much about it. I try it when I get a thought “let my try~”

Q. When do you feel happiest now?
YC: Everyday. I can go out with my friends or family. Now I have the time to do it. Because that became possible, I became more generous to myself(translator’s note: he means he became more relaxed)

JS: For me..well..I think there are different kinds of happiness, but I’m the happiest when I’m on the stage, singing. Now I have less chances to feel that kind of happiness…Including stages in Japan, I hope we could get more chances to sing on many stages…I’d like to feel the happiness coming from that.

Q. Last December 31st, you three sang “Found You” at KBS Acting Awards, where Yoochun was awarded the Rookies of the Year
YC: Yes. Shortly.

JS: I was nervous, since it was the first time we sang on TV last year^^

Q. How did you feel?
JS: It was kinda strange…of course I was happy. I was sad of myself, feeling ‘sad’ with this difficult, but single appearance. But I was glad to congratulate Yoochun. I wanted to think happy things only.

JJ: I think it was good in a way, making me think again performing on a stage is not something “normal” but “very very precious” to an artist. That meant very…much to the three of us. I could feel many things from it, so I thought maybe I’m a grownup than two years ago.. Because the things I thought was natural turned out to be not.

JS: (can’t read)..but you fans are supporting us…

110717 Kim Jaejoong, “This Anxiety Developed That Is Similar To Andropause Symptom… It Is A Good Thing”‏

As the top singer in Republic of Korea, how is the feeling about debuting as a new actor? JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong will be acting as a chaebol successor in SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Protect The Boss’, challenging his first role in domestic drama. Topics such as comparison to Hyun Bin in SBS’s ‘Secret Garden’ starts the conversation.

Kim Jaejoong said, “It feels like the time when I was a newbie debuting, I think the the crucial part is to adapt to the environment. 10 years of activities and I feel as though I have reached andropause, it is both body and mentally exhausting. Although there are a lot of pressure and burden debuting as an actor, as compared to that, this development of anxiety… it feels good.” Kim Jaejoong’s straighforwardness and honesty were felt through the interview.

Why did you choose to debut as an actor through ‘Protect The Boss’?
After acting in Japanese drama ‘Sunao Ni Narenakute’ last year, I have no hurry to plan about acting in domestic drama or movie, thus I thought and researched about it with due considerations. But the schedules and timing were not suitable thus good works were shelved. But after I received the script for ‘Protect The Boss’, I have strong feelings for it suddenly. The plot is very interesting and I feel that the role suits me.

The comparison of “Cold Urban Guy” Cha Mu Won and Hyun Bin
Although Cha Mu Won is good with business and treats others gentlemanly, he always gave a cold and cool impression to others. A bit mysterious too. The role of being a chaebol’s successor is similar to Hyun Bin’s Kim Joo Won but there are differences in the acting and personality.

How do you grade your own acting currently?
This, about 1 mark? I’m still unable to rate my own acting right now. I do not wish to leave an impression to everyone that my acting is a distance from the veterans during filming. I hoped to reduce this difference and co-operate better with the veteran actors.

The prediction for the viewer ratings is…
The higher the better! Keke~~ The previous slot ‘City Hunter’ has very good results, so our ‘Protect The Boss’ shouldn’t “shrink” right. Rather than consideration for the viewer ratings, I would like to place my emphasis on leveling up my acting.

How is the atmosphere at the filming site?
Although I am the youngest at the filming site, Ji Sung hyung holds the role of the atmosphere-creator. I want to receive praises from the veteran actors through good acting. Cha Hwa Yong Sunbae and Teacher Park Yong Kyu, they have given me a lot of opinions and suggestions. When reading of the lines, I tend to laugh and the atmosphere is really amicable.

Harsh words said to sasaeng fans (stalking fans)
Sasaeng fans have their wrongdoings for sure, but there are also lots of problems that lies with some of the rented car drivers which makes us worried. They persuades those who waited for us in front of our house and the overseas fans who followed us. “This is nothing, it is okay to follow them. If found out, just don’t continue to follow, it will do.” Once they catch up on us, it is difficult to get rid of them. Speeding up is dangerous. It is a common sight to follow us on highway till Gyeonggi-do.

The 2 months long world tour has successfully concluded.
This tour is very interesting. After it ended, members and staffs were very happy. Sang our own compositions, and personally involved in the production, and no additional help from other companies, we are very happy, and very proud!

Activities in Japan is still difficult
Not long ago, we held a charity concert for the earthquake relief in Japan. To the members who were able to have a performance in Japan after a long while, it was a very meaningful matter. Although we were pressurized by our ex-company in Japan, and the lots of problems appeared, but we did not mind and I think we would have a lot of issues to settle in the future.

It is still unable to find JYJ’s albums in the record stores in Japan
We are deeply affected by it on why is our JYJ’s album not able to be sold on the market. As a hallyu forerunner, we are saddened by this issue. If we can put in more effort and time and would be able to withstand these tests, then I think we will insist to work hard till the end. If things are still not able to resolve, we would want to apologize to our Japanese fans.

You sang Im Jae Bum’s For You at the concert in Japan and this create a topic
After singing For You at the concert, Im Jae Bum sunbae sang it again in the programme ‘I Am Singer’ and also attracted attention and topics. Although it is not my own song but I was very happy about it. I would like to hold a concert with remake songs or to produce a rock genre album.

Is there anyone you are dating? What’s your ideal type?
Right now there’s no one. There is a big change in my thoughts regarding the opposite sex. In the past, if I were to date with my girlfriend, I would spend a lot of time preparing some gifts, write letters or write a diary and give it as a present to her on our anniversary. But I do not wish to spend time on this now. Am I going to transform into a bad guy? Hahaha. In the past, there would be pre-requisites for my ideal type but there are none now. I think I need a long time to understand the opposite party well.

110713 Kim Jaejoong, Immersed In The Role Of The “Director”

Having their two month long world tour end, JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong has found the appeal of the role of a director. He conveyed his impressions of the world tour and when asked to describe it in one word, he stated that it was “very fun”.

Kim Jaejoong stated proudly that, “After the end of the tour, I was praised by the company, my members, and by the staff. There were a number of songs that I myself composed just for this tour, and I was also the director of the concerts in Asia. And it was this kind of concert that was also performed in America. There were various difficulties and troubles, but to have accomplished such a big tour without having to ask for help from elsewhere was very satisfying.”

Through this recent world tour, Kim Jaejoong debuted as a director. When asked to choose between artist and director he laughed and said, “During the actual performance, I think it’s better to be the artist.” He further stated that, “Directors are really amazing, and I want to educate myself more about directing dramas. Being a director is about overcoming all the complications in order to shoot as how you desire. But in the end, a drama is a drama and a performance is a performance, and either of these have their own appeal.”

One of the most memorable moments for Kim Jaejoong with this world tour was their performance in Bangkok. Kim Jaejoong stated that, “I wanted to direct the first concert no matter what. The reaction from the fans was really good too so I was very touched.”

“Director Kim Jaejoong” also said that he had a desire to direct concerts and performances of other artists. He stated that, “I have an interest in directing performances for other artists similar to us. I once talked with my close friend Kim Hyunjoong about working on a album with our own style, and to do activities together but Kim Hyunjoong said that he was too greedy about his own music and would end up directing everything himself”, Jaejoong said laughing.

Also, while directing the gymnastics exhibition for Son Yon Jae, Kim Jaejoong reflected on how that experience had been extraordinary and enjoyable. “Son Yon Jae’s presentation showed that she understand more than what I understood I had to direct.”

He added, “I think if you truly play the part of the director and take it seriously, it would be a very interesting and an attractive area of work. Of course, right now I’m still taking small steps and learning, but I feel like my point of view in seeing the whole of a concert has gotten bigger, wider. During concert rehearsals, there were moments when I felt I wasn’t an artist standing on a stage, but I was behind the audience and directing, and that I myself was fulfilling a contribution to my team,” he concluded proudly.

Meanwhile, the “singer Kim Jaejoong” commented on their upcoming Korean album as “currently under preparation”. “I want to release it as soon as all the good music comes out but I wonder if it will be possible this year. We are currently even between different activities,” he added, not giving a definite answer.

Also in regards to whether he will be taking part in the OST of “Protect the Boss”, he said that there were still no such plans. He stated that, “At the moment there are no compositions that I could use for this drama, and it’s also difficult to join in so soon. But if such a proposal comes I will accept in order to support the drama.” He ended with this lingering statement, amplifying the expectations of the fans.

Jaejoong – “Japan Lifestyle” French Magazine

After having spent a long time as a superstar, Jaejoong has become a sex-symbol almost without noticing it.

Which is strange, since from the start, we knew why.

How do you know that a star leave its mark in everyone’s mind? It’s when this star isn’t as much mediatized but keeps being talked about. A mysterious look, a haircut that hides half of his mischievous face, and most of all an (almost) innocent smile: it’s logical that Kim Jaejoong is hard to forget.

The other side of fame’s coin

At a young age, Jaejoong knew what he wanted. Doing what was needed to reach his goal, he leaves his family to start a career in the show-business. But things don’t go as planned. Hired by his favorite group’s agency, he has to take part-time jobs to pay for dansing and singing classes. Eventhough, in december 2003, 2 years and a half after joining SM Entertainment, he becomes a member of TVXQ! Together, the five handsome boys of the group will renew the idea of “boys band” in Korea.

Fame being often accompanied by setbacks, once again he isn’t spared, like when his hurtful past is made known publicly by tabloids. When TVXQ’s popularity is at its top, Jaejoong as well as Yoochun and Junsu, two other members of the group, fill a lawsuit against their agency ***. When in october 2009 the korean Court makes a statement in favor of the three men, the group’s fate is written. Six months later, the break-up is official and the “TVXQ soul” written on his back will prevent him from forgetting this experience.

Renewal

Being the victims of a boycott from media in Korea, the three men, renamed JYJ, travels the world with a big-scale tour that includes China, the United States or Canada.

The other news about Jaejoong are in front of cameras. Late 2009, Postman to Heaven is released. It is his first real part by Hyo-Joo Han’s side. More unusually, a few months later, the young man makes his debuts on japanese TV in Sunao ni Narenakute. His part as a doctor will make him win an award as the best second-lead from the daily newspaper Nikkan Sports. Late 2011, the artist should play the main-lead in Hanbando (T/N the article was probably written before the announce about Protect the Boss), a K-drama about this mysterious national intelligence’s boss in a unified Korea.

C-JeS Entertainment’s representative Baek Chang Ju said, “The 2011 World Tour Concert that displayed JYJ’s infinite possibilities gained strength from fans’ support and encouragements from all around the world and was marvelously concluded.”, “Please also look out for the upcoming solo activities of the three members,” entrusting the fans for support.

JYJ’s Gwangju encore performance had about 7000 audiences and because it was the last concert, the reluctant feeling was unable to be hidden. Also JYJ presented a big laughter to fans by sharing the imitation of their favorite KBS2 Gag Concert segment.

Kim Jaejoong expressed, “Because today is the last concert, rather than giving a neat choreograph of a concert, (We) would rather be closer and ‘breathing’ with the audiences. JYJ also would be preparing exciting activities,” and telling to fans, “Please support and trust us till the end.” The heartfelt audiences answered with their encouraging applause.

Park Yoochun, “There seems to be very little chances to show ourselves to you all, but through this World Tour Concert, it was the happiest time I had after debuting as a singer,” and “Members would be busy with our individual solo activities but would not lose the focus of JYJ. We’ll meet again with an even more handsome public performance,” relaying his thoughts towards the end of the world tour.

Kim Junsu said, “Rather than saying it’s World Tour Concert that injected energy, it was actually the acceptance by fans. I would like to sincerely thank every fans and hoped that this year ends well.”
Additionally, JYJ’s Gwangju encore performance will be shown through KBS2′s Entertainment Generation, broadcasting on the 28th at 7pm KST.

110613 JYJ beautifully concluded world tour in Busan, continuing their undefeatable popularity legend‏

JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu) successfully drew their world tour to a close with the performances on the 11th and 12th of June at Busan.

C-JeS representative Baek Chang Ju said on the 13th, “Themed as Kim Jaejoong’s ‘Creativity Challenge’, JYJ World Tour Concert in Busan has attracted 17000 fans and the two nights of concert were completely sold out.” The arrival of JYJ increased the occupancy rate of Busan’s hotels until most hotels were fully occupied, proving again JYJ’s alarming popularity.

The biggest attractions in Busan’s concert were the individual member’s solo stages and the interactive stage shared between the fans and members. The 3 members of JYJ displayed their unique vocals through ‘I Love You’, ‘I Can Soar’ and ‘Still In Love’ and the agile choreographs of the female dancers also showed a different charisma.

Park Yoochun’s solo stage of ‘I Love You’ attracted all the audiences with his vocal and the visual effects from the performance of the female dancers. Singing with his good vocal and the natural skinship interaction with the female dancers, it greatly emphasized the matured manly charisma. Kim Junsu who has great singing skills showed his usual awesome live singing ability with ballad ‘I Can Soar’, showing an atmospheric stage accompanying with neat choreography by the female dancers. The last R&B song “Still In Love” rang between Kim Jaejoong and the female dancers, the choreograph and the lyrics that sketched the unrequited love presented a mythical stage effect.

First time performing in Korea, the song ‘A Song Without A Name Part 1′ left a deep impression with performance of Park Yoochun’s rap ability. Due to the lyrics that he wrote while reminiscing about the past events, it has caused a controversy. It was the first time to see fans deeply attracted into his rap. After that, Kim Junsu and Kim Jaejoong’s sad renditions of the song left many fans in tears. Park Yoochun’s performance was completed within the fans’ cries. Lastly, Kim Junsu’s monologue re-stabilised the atmosphere but as the song ends, the fans were moved to tears once again.

During ‘Found You (Chajatta)’, Park Yoochun shouted, “Found everybody!” and appeared, making every fans laughed. JYJ and fans singing together of “Saranghae” displayed the interactive stage shared between singers and fans. Park Yoochun dedicated the final part of the lyrics to all the fans with “Thank you all for standing by JYJ”.

The concert also revealed JYJ’s self compositions, ‘Boy’s Letter’ blended the three splendid voices; During ‘You’re’, JYJ went running around the stage, interacting with fans though eyes; Kim Jaejoong collaboration with Park Yoochun for ‘Get Out’ is a strong tempo dance song, although it was not being revealed till now, fans were able to sing along, pushing greater heights to the live atmosphere.

Towards the end of the concert, JYJ said, “This world tour allowed us to see with our own eyes that there were many fans who came and this made us felt blessed. Thanks a lot to Korean fans who have always loved us. Last week at the Japan concert, we thanked the Japanese fans who waited over 1 year for us but Korean fans waited us for 2 years. Everyone right here are not audiences but our family. We will continue to create JYJ or individual activities in order to meet with everyone and will work hard in growing to be a more mature JYJ.”

JYJ’s new song ‘In Heaven’ was Busan concert’s farewell song and the central stage gradually became a round-shaped with the 3 members deeply looking at each other, drenched in perspirations, delivering the last song with their best effort.

110612 JYJ – “Representative Korean Idols Who Have Become Representative Korean Artists”

They shine the brightest when standing on stage.
Completing the concerts in Thailand, Taiwan, China, Canada, America and others, JYJ came to Busan as their final stop of the World Tour, and they can be considered as artists who “are capable of mesmerizing a full crowd of fans”

The concert officially started at 8pm after it got delayed for an hour due to issues with the stage and other problems. Amidst a gorgeous laser show and fast-paced rhythmic beats, the screen showed images of the members, kicking off the concert and sending the crowds into a passionate frenzy.

The Sajik Indoors Gymnasium  which was the location for this concert had long been covered in red. The audiences held their breath as they waited for the idols they love so much, and as if they had been under a spell, lost themselves to the brilliant performance and JYJ’s music. The stage had a large center with two circular extensions, a set-up that made full use of the Sajik Indoors Gymnasium.

In the audience, there were not only fans from Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan as well as other Asian countries, but fans that flew in from Europe and America as well. There were “couple” fans who came hand-in-hand, “mother” fans who brought their children, and a formidable presence from the “auntie” fan groups. There were also quite a number of male fans, which was something that differentiated them from other idol group performances.

The members of JYJ, who have successfully completed their world tour, looked more at ease now that the tour was over. However, they continued to show their unique abilities. They exhibited explosive power starting from the first song, and as a result, were covered in sweat.  They dominated the stage as they were “sometimes soft and gentle, like a lover whispering in your ear, yet sometimes so intense that you felt like your heart was going to explode.”

It was a performance that blended charisma, sexiness, and perfect vocals as one.  They also showed their adorable and talented sides, eliminating all anxiousness among the audience. The solo stages showed the member’s personal charm and power at a glance. They also occasionally pulled off some sexy moves to “train” the fans.

Just like this, the members of JYJ unselfishly displayed their own charms on stage. But for them to be able to showcase all of their talents and passion, then a 120 minute performance will be too short a time, and the Sajik Indoors Gymnasium would be too small a space.

It was a performance that was filled with so much action that it you could not even tear your eyes away for a second. The audiences seemed to understand each other perfectly, cheering for the members, clapping and dancing in perfect synchronization. Surrendering their bodies to the music of JYJ, and indulging in the fast-pace of the stage, everyone (the audience & JYJ) came together as one.

In the gymnasium, the project for “Fallen Leaves” turned the whole stadium yellow; the audience danced together, and did the wave during “Be My Girl,” bringing the concert to its peak. This could be considered as a most extravagant mass dance.

However the thing that left the deepest impression during this concert was how JYJ’s true feelings could be felt by everyone in the audience. To their fans, who stood together with them through their battles in this unfair world, who hurt, agonized, fought, cried and laughed alongside the members, JYJ put all of their thankful emotions into this concert.

When singing “Chajatta,” they shouted to the fans “Thank you, for coming to JYJ’s side,” saying “As long as you do not change, we too will not change.”

As the concert approached its end, Jaejoong asked the fans, “Does everyone hope that we will have more performances?” and promised the audience “In the future, we will bring better songs to everyone, and will treat this as a learning experience and a motivation to work harder. The next time, we will greet everyone with an even better performance.” Although we don’t know when this promise will be fulfilled, but the fans have already started waiting for this day to come.

110609 Korean airline prepares a chartered plane for Japanese fans attending JYJ concert

Talk about the power of international fans — in response to the high number of Japanese fans flocking to Busan en masse for the upcoming JYJ concert, Air Busan has announced plans to fly a specially chartered airplane this week.

Air Busan, a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines regionally concentrated in Busan, revealed today that preparations are being made to accommodate the number of Japanese tourists seeking to attend the upcoming JYJ concerts on June 11 and 12. Air Busan normally flies the Osaka-Busan route twice a day with morning and afternoon flights, but due to the skyrocketing demand, preparations for a chartered plane were made accordingly.

An official from the agency stated, “Among the international airlines, Air Busan is the only airline flying a chartered airplane for this concert. We specifically arranged this for Japanese fans to reduce the unfortunate event of having to miss one’s favorite singer’s concert due to a lack of [airplane] seats.

Meanwhile, in the midst of worry regarding the aftereffects of the recent earthquake, Air Busan has scheduled planes for the Busan-Norita route on June 23 as scheduled in order to keep its promise to its customers.

JYJ signed a contract with world-class concert production company AEG Live, bringing new and exciting performances to the concert management. JYJ’s concerts held in Vancouver, New Jersey and LA were continued successes, and the final show was held in San Jose, ending the “JYJ Worldwide Tour Concert in 2011.”

At the performance in LA, not only were there Korean nationals, but fans from all nationalities coming for the performance. After the concert ended, the concert management personnel and fans expressed their satisfaction towards the performance.

Screen technician Kenneth Kasier said, “During the performance, I witnessed the way JYJ enjoyed the stage, and I felt that they were very professional. The members’ harmonization blended beautifully. Also, the atmosphere left a deep impression, and the feelings that JYJ showed were well-communicated to the audience”

C-JeS’s representative Baek Chang Joo said, “By holding these concerts not just in Asia but in America as well, JYJ have become true artists. Unlike most Asian artists, they held concerts in the American region, and we’re really satisfied with the results.”

JYJ, who returned to Korea after their last concert in San Jose, will hold a charity concert on 7 June in Japan, followed by two days of concerts on 11-12 June at the Busan Sajik Indoor Gymnasium.

JYJ 2011 World Tour] JYJ brings the fire to San Jose!

After holding their showcase tour last autumn, JYJ has returned to North America for their “2011 World Tour“!

Having impressed fans with their shows in Vancouver, Newark, and Los Angeles thus far, JYJ’s Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu ended the tour with a bang on June 3rd, performing their final concert at San Jose State University’s Event Center Arena in San Jose, California.

Check out allkpop’s exclusive coverage of the action-packed show below!

===

The concert may have been scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM, but JYJ’s presence at the venue was obvious long before the arena even opened its doors. With fanclub banners strung across campus and supporters passing out free posters, red glowstick headbands, and light-up finger lights before the show, any passerby would be hard-pressed to miss the feeling that something huge was taking place that evening.

As attendees began to stream into the arena for seating, the letters “JYJ” blazed across the enormous screens that flanked each side of the stage. The light-studded wall behind it glittered with gradients of colors, and two glass cages were placed on both sides of the platform. Though the stage was still empty of performers, the set-up promised a dynamic performance for the night.

A practice video played on the screens during this time, revealing the backup dancers who ran through the choreography for “Be My Girl“. Since the video had subtitles, it gave the audience an opportunity to learn each dance move in the routine.

Suddenly, the video ended, the arena lights shut off, and the room became illuminated by tiny red stars. Fans started screaming and pressing forward as the familiar beats of “Empty” pierced the air. JYJ emerged onstage with a full entourage of male and female back-up dancers dressed sleekly in black. Whoever was in charge of set decoration truly bigged it up for this concert – the larger-than-life, club ambiance enveloped the arena and swept the audience away for what would be one hell of a concert.

As the first song came to an end, the trio stood alone on the extended stage, allowing fans to feast their eyes on the idols and admire their stage wardrobe – Jaejoong sported a ruby red suit with a flower brooch, Junsu was dressed in a gray suit with a feather accessory on his back, and Yoochun was glittering from top to bottom in a blue suit.

A few seconds passed and the three men jumped right into their next song, “Ideal Scenario (I.D.S)”, another upbeat dance track. This time, male dancers dressed in black, ninja-inspired outfits performed choreography behind them. The energy in the stadium was pulsing, fans were flushed from the excitement, and that’s when a few piano notes echoed through the air as ballad “Nine” followed up.

Wassup San Jose!“, Yoochun greeted as the audience erupted in reaction. “Welcome to the JYJ World Tour in San Jose, so glad to see you guys!” Junsu chimed in, “Let’s have a good time together, thank you!“, and Jaejoong continued with a smile, “I hope you enjoy the show, kamsamnida!

To kickstart the next song, JYJ exclaimed in unison, “Get ready to SCREAM!” On cue, white lights flooded the arena and “Pierrot” echoed through the speakers. The three members appeared on the upper platform of the stage as female dancers in white tutus performed ballet-inspired choreography on the main stage. Although the song has an upbeat style, JYJ’s soaring vocals and the dancer’s haunting feel gave this performance a deeper layer of emotion.

For the fifth track, “Be My Girl“, microphones were set up and each member returned to the stage one by one, grooving and goofing off to the tune. The laidback song was followed by a dramatic behind-the-scenes video of “The Beginning” album jacket photoshoot set, complete with slow motion falling snow and waterfalls.

During this break, JYJ switched into their second set of outfits (full black leather & silver accessories) and returned for “Be the One“, a performance characterized by its heavy bass beats pumping into the stadium floors and the flashing yellow lights that dramatically turned blue as JYJ sang. The dancers all circled together and put their arms on one another as the tune of “Ayyy Girl” then pulsated through the airwaves. ”Club JYJ” was back in full force – the busty female dancers in fishnets and male dancers in Michael Jackson-inspired outfits returned to the stage to hype up the atmosphere once again.

The stadium went black and the sound of thunder and a phone dial filled the air as the mood changed once again. Yoochun emerged to perform “I Love You“, surrounded by six masked female dancers. The volume of screams rose and fell whenever Yoochun approached the ladies, reaching a breaking point as the idol’s lips neared a dancer’s before teasingly pulling away to sing a falsetto note with ease.

Suddenly, psychedelic green lights flashed across the stadium, drum beats vibrated through the walls, and cymbals clashed in the air. At the climax, horns blared through the speakers, red sirens blinded the audience and had I not known it was part of the show, I would’ve panicked and guessed that ‘the rapture’ had finally dawned on us. Instead, the ninja-dressed dancers marched back onto the stage and the dramatic violin staccato riff joined the drum beat as JYJ returned onstage in heavily-studded leather trenchcoats for “Mission“.

The performance was like something straight out of a warrior movie – Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun were oozing masculinity, and when you thought it couldn’t get more badass, Yoochun suddenly stepped forward and rapped a full verse in English. “Mission” is a go-getter thriller track that makes any listener want to jump out of their seat, and so it ended perfectly with a bang – literally. Fans screamed as steam dramatically flushed up at the front of the stage on the final note.

With a song as strong as “Mission” following so many hard-hitting tracks like “Be the One” and “Ayyy Girl”, the audience needed to catch its breath before being spoiled with more racy performances by JYJ and their backup dance team. Junsu was next up to perform a ballad solo, and after a slideshow of photos eased the mood once more, blue sparkles glimmered on the back screen and white fog tumbled onto the stage as the idol performed “I Can Soar“, now dressed in a black vest and pants.

Jaejoong followed with “Still in Love“, another ballad wrought with emotion. While the ballad itself was beautiful, fans seemed more interested (or, to be more accurate, outraged) by the singer’s flirtatious encounters with the backup dancers behind him, who were sexily dressed in white button-ups and black shorts. At one point, Jaejoong even gave one dancer his black jacket, leading to a crescendo of screams from the audience.

After a high energy dance break featuring solo performances from each of the backup dancers, JYJ re-emerged in black and metallic outfits to perform “Found You” from the “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” OST. It was one of the more memorable stages that night, as the crowd sang back in unison to the “saranghae” parts of the chorus à la call and response.

Thank you so much for being with us today,” said Yoochun after the song ended. He then turned to Jaejoong expectantly to give his own message. The idol exclaimed, “Hey guys!… uh…“, and faltered as he fixed his earpiece, sheepishly grinning as everyone laughed. “I’m sorry!“, he exclaimed, then broke into a message in Korean about how thankful and excited he was to be there.

JYJ then performed “Fallen Leaves“, a timeless ballad. Getting to hear this song live was absolutely moving –  with the absence of overpowering instrumentals, the listener could intimately feel each voice, textured and thick with emotion, pushing and filling the stadium. As Rowdyruff mentions in his “Their Rooms” review, “Fallen Leaves” stands out because of the way each JYJ member commands the melodies and makes them his own. The way that JYJ’s voices soared in this performance proved that it was truly raw vocal talent that carried Jaejoong, Junsu, and Yoochun to their god-tier fame in Asia over the past decade.

The trio continued with “Boy’s Letter“, yet another ballad whose harmonizations were jewel-like in their perfection. This track contained a few sections where the instrumentals would fade, allowing the trio’s voices to truly speak for themselves. Furthermore, “Boy’s Letter” was full of falsettos and overlapping climaxes that left everyone breathless.

The subdued crowd felt revived once more when a techno beat began pumping through the sound system with the remix of “Be the One“. Jaejoong repeatedly shouted, “Jump!!” and “Stand up!!“, and his fellow members also walked across the stage to hype up the audience. The backup dancers returned, now wearing the red glowstick headbands and finger lights that were being passed out earlier.

At the end of the song, a male dancer stepped forward with a mic, a cake, and a beaming smile, as he announced that they had a surprise for a very special birthday boy. “Yoochun!“, he exclaimed, turning to the idol and handing him a few decorated bags. “We wanted to present these gifts from your fans!” After exchanging hugs and giving a touched message to the audience, Yoochun couldn’t keep a grin off his face as JYJ performed “You’re” for their next track. The song concluded with an explosion of silver confetti above the audience.

When the crew disappeared off stage, it was obvious the audience wasn’t ready for the show to end. Fans began chanting for an encore for a full five minutes, the desire stronger over time as everyone in the stadium joined in. They erupted into cheers as a heartbeat began to pulsate on screen and pound through the speakers, and JYJ returned to the stage in leather jackets, white “JYJ” shirts, jeans, and white kicks to perform “Get Over“. A remix of “Empty” soon followed with new choreography full of tutting, chest pumps, and a dance break where Junsu pop-and-locked, impressed with a freeze, hopped back up, then belted a high note without missing a beat.

For the last encore track, Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu stood alone in three white spotlights and sang “In Heaven“, another slow song that grew and grew until each of the members’ falsettos were echoing off the stadium walls – a climactic finale fit for such a high energy concert.

At the end of the day, JYJ hammered home that while they certainly possessed charm and looks, it was their unmatched vocal talent that allowed them to keep so many loyal supporters over the years. With this concert marking the conclusion to their North American leg, it’s fair to say that Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu triumphed with each performance.

This tour was a vast improvement from their last showcase tour in November, and with this trio continuing to outdo themselves with every show, we’re excited to see what they will bring in the future!
