110812 ‘I’ll Protect You’ Scores An ‘All Kill’ On Music Charts And Becomes JYJ’s Third Consecutive Home Run

Kim Jaejoong’s ‘I’ll Protect You’ ranked high on various online music charts.

‘I’ll Protect You’, the OST of SBS’ ‘Protect the Boss’ that was composed and had the lyrics written by Kim Jaejoong, was first released after the third episode of the drama that aired on the 10th and immediately ranked high on online music charts.

‘Protect the Boss’, which is Kim Jaejoong’s domestic debut drama, has also been garnering much attention and positive reviews from its viewers. Kim Jaejoong plays the role of Cha Mu Won, the prince of the financial world.

‘I’ll Protect You’ came out on top on Naver Music, Daum Music, and Cyworld Music and dominated Korea’s three major portal sites. It then moved on to continue its winning streak on various major music sites such as Bugs, Soribada and Olleh Music.

Kim Junsu’s ‘You are so beautiful’, which was released on the 5th, could still be seen ranking high on the music charts as well. Kim Jaejoong’s drama OST participation, following Park Yoochun’s ‘This Empty Place is for You’ in June, has shown JYJ’s power once more.

Kim Jaejoong said, “I’ve embodied the love that one wants to protect more because it gets further the closer one tries to get to it in ‘I’ll Protect You’,” and “Please anticipate the odd love story that emerges for the four men and women.”

According to a representative, Kim Jaejoong’s ‘I’ll Protect You’ was recorded and the representatives who were present deemed it satisfactory. However, Kim Jaejoong said, “I’m not satisfied with it. I’d like to record it once more,” regardless of the fact that he was worn out from his busy schedule and suffering from sleep deprivation.

At his request, ‘I’ll Protect You’ was recorded once more and the song was reborn with a higher level of completion. The representative highly praised Kim Jaejoong as he said, “As expected from a member of the top class group JYJ, and as expected from the leading role of ‘Protect the Boss’, Kim Jaejoong put all his energy into recording the OST and did his best.”

Netizens were seen saying, “Of course, it’s Kim Jaejoong. His professional passion made the quality of the song shoot up”, and “It feels great to know that Kim Jaejoong has been recognized for both his acting and singing.”

A representative of SBS Contents Hub, which produces the OST of ‘Protect the Boss’, stated, “Through the recording of the OST, we were able to once more confirm the professionalism of Kim Jaejoong.”

Officials from drama productions have said “JYJ is filled with rich emotion, and their emotive singing abilities as well as their appearances have a great positive influence over the drama overall,” as well as “Though it is regretful that we cannot meet JYJ on music broadcasts, their popularity is reflected from the explosive reaction that occurs every time that they participate in a drama OST and from a producers perspective, they are really seen as good luck cards”.

Lyrics to Yuchun’s “The Empty Space for You” (from Miss Ripley Soundtrack)

The Empty Space for You

 Album: Miss Ripley OST Part3
Composed & Written by: Jung Haesung
Song by: Park Yuchun

I hope it’s not love
The coming goodbye hurts so much
If you can be happy, [I’ll] stop now stop
This is all I can do for you

My love is an empty space only for you for you for you
I look away and laugh with effort so that you don’t find out
I don’t like it when you’re hurt I don’t like goodbyes
You shouldn’t love me

I would like it if it wasn’t you
Because you, you are the most precious to me in this world
So I push you away and make you cry and turn you down
This is all I can do for you

My love is an empty space only for you for you for you
I look away and laugh with effort so that you don’t find out
I don’t like it when you’re hurt I don’t like goodbyes
You shouldn’t love me

Don’t wait for me… I barely hold back the bitter tears
And I turn around and leave like this

I love you I love you I love you I love you my only love
Although I shout with my heart I can’t call out because [you’re] too precious
My pain is okay because I love you
I can just cry until I’m crazy

I don’t like it when you’re hurt because I love you
I can just do this much

110628 Park Yoochun Lip Syncs On ‘Miss Ripley’? The Lip Synced Proposal Has Viewers Disappointed

In the 9th episode of MBC’s ‘Miss Ripley’ that aired on the 27th, Song Yoo Hyun played the piano and sang to propose to Jang Miri.

On this day, Song Yoo Hyun calls Jang Miri, who had just finished a special college lecture, to a church and turns on a slide show on a large screen that is filled with pictures of her while he sings and plays the piano.
Jang Miri sheds tears at Song Yoo Hyun’s romantic side and accepts his proposal. But the director’s decision to make Park Yoochun lip sync instead of singing live for the beautiful scene has made many viewers express their disappointment.

On the 22nd, staff of the drama who were present at a filming that occurred at a church in Gangnam, Seoul commented that they created the perfect scene with Park Yoochun’s adept piano skills and emotional voice. As his packed schedule meant that filming would have to occur in the early morning, the staff worried that Park Yoochun’s voice would be too hoarse to sing at such a time but Park Yoochun pulled through by fully utilizing the fact that he’s a singer and sang the OST piece ‘This Empty Place is For You’.

But in the actual drama, Park Yoochun was seen sitting in front of the piano but was never seen actually playing the instrument while the song was played through a BGM. Park Yoochun, who is a singer before he is an actor, had to lip sync for his drama.

Viewers who saw the episode said, “Why did they use the prerecorded OST? I’d like to know the director’s thought process”, “I don’t know why they went old-school and sat Park Yoochun in front of a piano when he’s able to both sing and play the piano”, “The scene could have been more moving but then he lip synced… that completely turned me off,” and “Because he lip synced, it actually got in the way of getting into the scene. It felt like the components of a beautiful scene didn’t work at all. I was disappointed.”
