[Social-Tainers Change the World] Social-Tainer Twitter Influence Top 0.1%
The communication tool most used by the social-tainers for societal works is Twitter. With last month as the measuring point, the total number of twitter users in Korea is over 4,260,000. Among them, the influence of the “social-tainers” are in the 0.1%. The influence of their Twitters were shown to dramatically increase when actively inserting themselves into the societal problems such as the tuition and the hope bus of Hanjin. The politicians who are talked about as the promising candidates for the next elections all use Twitter but in terms of influence they cannot reach the social-tainers.
In Korea, TrendSeek, the specialty corporation of social-network analysis, is evaluating each week the rankings of the influence of Twitter accounts from the beginning of last April and is publicizing them. TrendSeek turns into numerical figures the following five factors to decide the composite rankings of the users of Twitter: the number of persons who ReTweet (the degree of the expansion/spread of the information), the number of persons who sent the Twitter account a mention (a tweet that is sent to a specific person) (the degree of interest), the number of persons to whom the Twitter account has sent a mention (the degree of reciprocity), the number of Tweets made by the Twitter account (the degree of activity), and the number of followers (the degree of popularity).
On the 23rd last month—currently, the person who is #1 in influence in Twitter is the entertainer Kim Jaejoong, whose origin is TVXQ. It is that the author Lee Oisoo (#2) who had been #1 from April were taken aback to allow the entertainer of idol origins to rise to become #1. In the upper echelon , there are many other young entertainers other than Kim Jaejoong—such as Kim Heechul, Kim Junsu, and Choi Siwon.
